Australian Geographic Magazine
My latest photographic work for Australian Geographic has just been published in the May-June issue
Holi Festival
I have been documenting India for over 30years now.
One of my favourite times to be there is during the Holi Festival. If not for Covid-19 this is where I would be today.
I always go to Varanasi, it is a place that I love and know very well.
Here are a few from the last couple of Holi celebrations, all photographs were taken with the Leica MD-262 + 35mm lens
The last photo was taken to show the simple way of protecting my camera from the elements, a plastic bag bought from any department store.

the back story #1
I have been documenting the city of Varanasi, India since 1989.
I go back whenever I can and I like to travel very simple. A minimum amount of camera equipment, usually one camera and a couple of lenses, no wider than 28mm and no longer than a 50mm. This photograph was with a 28mm.
I have been visiting this chai shop over many years, it faces out onto the street, but also opens up to a back alleyway where life goes on. I had been waiting a long time for a picture like this to come together with all the different elements.
